Binghamton's Oswalt Named Pitcher of the Year
Portland, ME - The Eastern League of Professional Baseball is pleased to announce that Binghamton Rumble Ponies right-handed starting pitcher Corey Oswalt has been selected as the 2017 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year.

Oswalt has put together a record of 11-5 with 111 strikeouts and a 2.37 ERA in 23 starts while making his Double-A debut for the Rumble Ponies this season while helping lead the team to a postseason berth. He gave up three earned runs or less in 21 of his 23 starts for the Rumble Ponies this season, including nine starts in which he did not allow any earned runs. The 23-year old is currently leading the Eastern League with a 2.37 ERA and he is also currently ranked among the league leaders in wins (11-tied 2nd), complete games (1-tied 2nd), WHIP (1.19-tied 3rd), shutouts (2-tied 3rd), batting average against (.239-5th), and strikeouts (111-7th).
In addition to winning this award, the 6'5", 250 lb. hurler was also selected as the right-handed starting pitcher on the Eastern League All-Star Team, was a member of the Eastern Division roster for the Eastern League All-Star Game in New Hampshire and was the winner of the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 31st-August 6th.
Corey, who is rated by MLB.com as the 29th best prospect in the New York Mets organization, was selected by the New York Mets in the seventh round of the 2012 draft out of James Madison High School in San Diego, California.
