Pedro Araujo (6-1) tossed a scoreless ninth and 10th inning to pick up his sixth win of the season. Oscar De La Cruz started the contest for the Pelicans, and the right-hander struck out four batters over 3.1 scoreless frames.
Dakota Mekkes pitched two scoreless innings to bridge to Araujo.
Myrtle Beach's one through six hitters in the order went a combined 0-for-24 in the win.
Myrtle Beach and Buies Creek will play the finale of their three-game set with an 11 a.m. first pitch on Thursday. The Birds will send RHP Mike Rucker (4-5, 2.47 ERA) to the mound to oppose LHP
