LILLINGTON, N.C. (August 30, 2017) - Roberto Caro's extra-inning RBI single Wednesday lifted the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a 1-0 win over the Buies Creek Astros at Jim Perry Stadium.
With the contest scoreless in the top of the 10th inning, Myrtle Beach (72-63, 29-36) constructed a two-out rally against Buies Creek (73-61, 36-28) reliever Erasmo Pinales (1-2). Connor Myers drew a two-out walk before advancing to second with a stolen base. Caro ripped his third hit of the contest into right field, scoring Myers to give the Birds a 1-0 lead.

Pedro Araujo (6-1) tossed a scoreless ninth and 10th inning to pick up his sixth win of the season. Oscar De La Cruz started the contest for the Pelicans, and the right-hander struck out four batters over 3.1 scoreless frames.
Kyle Miller entered the contest with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning before wiggling out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth. After a leadoff walk was issued to Jake Rogers, Randy César and Carmen Benedetti both singled to load the bases with nobody out. However, Miller struck out the next three batters to retire the side in the sixth.
Dakota Mekkes pitched two scoreless innings to bridge to Araujo.
Brett Adcock started the contest for Buies Creek. The left-hander struck out five batters over six shutout innings.
Myrtle Beach's one through six hitters in the order went a combined 0-for-24 in the win.
