Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, put up another great fight against the Montgomery Biscuits on Saturday, but they couldn't complete the deed, falling 8-7 in the series finale at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The Generals (69-53) dropped their fourth game in five nights to division-leading Montgomery (80-45), though they put on quite a show for a season-high 5,166 in attendance.
The Generals scored in four of the first five innings, using a piecemeal approach with a run in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and one more in the fifth. The lineup batted around in the third against Montgomery's Jason García (7-0, 4.00 ERA), who allowed five consecutive hits to L.T. Tolbert, Daulton Varsho, Pavin Smith, Seth Beer, and Renae Martinez to help the Generals stretch their lead to 4-0 at the time. The Generals benefitted from Montgomery errors in the second and fourth innings, and Ryan Grotjohn completed Jackson's offensive production with an RBI double in the fifth that plated Jeffrey Baez. Over the final four frames, Jackson put just four men on base, and none were able to score.
Josh Green (2-2, 4.21 ERA) induced eleven groundball outs in five innings of work, but a pair of big innings by the Biscuits worked against him. Montgomery used an RBI single by Miles Mastrobuoni and a three-run homer by Jim Haley in the fourth inning to rally from a 4-0 hole to tie the game at 4-4. Two innings later, Green faced five men without getting an out, allowing three consecutive run-scoring hits to Mastrobuoni, Haley, and Carl Chester as part of a four-run Montgomery rally from a 7-4 hole to an 8-7 lead. Green was removed before getting an out, with Ryan Atkinson finishing the frame and the one that followed. Atkinson and West Tunnell each worked a pair of scoreless frames in relief, but the Generals never found another run.
Varsho, Smith, and Martinez all finished with multiple hits, and Tolbert and Smith each scored twice. Smith drove in two runs as well, with the Generals finishing 3-for-16 with men in scoring position. Varsho stole his 20th base of the year in the defeat.
