Arkansas Travelers centerfielder Braden Bishop was named Texas League Player of the Month for June it was announced on Monday by Minor League Baseball. Bishop slashed .379/.443/.544 for a .987 OPS with 10 walks, eight doubles, three homers, 12 runs batted in and 24 runs scored over 24 games. He led the league in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles and runs for the month.   Bishop's efforts helped lead the Travs to clinching the North Division first half championship in late June.
For the season, Bishop is hitting .289/.361/.413 in 79 games and his 67 runs scored rank second in the league. He has raised his batting average to its current level after bottoming out at .154 on May 5. Braden was voted as a Texas League midseason All-Star and was the starting centerfielder for the North Division as well as being named a league player of the week earlier this season. Off the field, he is renowned for creating and promoting the 4Mom charity to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Disease after his mother's diagnosis in 2014. He was the fifth round selection of the Mariners in 2015 out of the University of Washington.
