Arkansas Travelers centerfielder Braden Bishop was named Texas League Player of the Week for May 28-June 3 it was announced today by League President Tim Purpura. Bishop batted .516 (16-31) for the week with a .545 on-base percentage and .903 slugging mark. He ripped three doubles, blasted three homers, drove in eight runs and scored 12 times from the top spot in the Travs lineup. Bishop opened the week with five straight multi-hit contests beginning with a four hit night last Tuesday and then three consecutive three-hit games. He then posted his first career two homerun game on Saturday night at Frisco.
For the season, Bishop is hitting .272/.349/.413 in 51 games and his 46 runs scored rank second in the league. He has raised his batting average 51 points over his current eight game hitting streak and 118 points since May 5. Braden played 31 games to close last season with Arkansas after being promoted from Class-A Modesto where he was the MVP of the California League All-Star game. He was the fifth round selection of the Mariners in 2015 out of the University of Washington.
