Greenville used a solo Home Run in the first and a three-run rally, all with two outs, in the top of the second. Borden’s leadoff Home Run in the bottom of the second gave the home team a glimmer of hope; however, it was the Tourists’ lone scoring play of the game.
Asheville’s starting pitcher, Edinson Batista, worked two innings before he was replaced by Walker Brockhouse in the third. Brockhouse pitched a perfect inning and turned things over to Deylen Miley in the fourth. Miley battled for three frames and struck out six.
Ronny Garcia pitched the final three innings out of the Asheville bullpen and kept the Drive from adding to their lead. The Tourists did have a nice scoring chance in the bottom of the fourth. Asheville loaded the bases with one out but a double-play ended the threat.
Borden ended up 2-for-4 and Ryan Clifford went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. The Tourists finished the game with six hits and did not work a single walk. Greenville had 11 hits and drew eight walks.
