WEST SACRAMENTO, CA -- The Sacramento River Cats (50-77) kicked off a ten-game homestand with a 9-2 loss to the Fresno Grizzlies (73-54).
Center fielder Peter Bourjos led the offense, which was held to just five hits, with two knocks featuring a solo home run in the fifth inning.
The bullpen did manage to hold things in check after seven runs were allowed by starter Daniel Camarena in the first four innings. Four pitchers combined to allow just two unearned runs in 5.2 innings, including an impressive outing from Tyler Beede who returned from the disabled list to strike out three in his inning of work.
The River Cats will continue this three-game set with Fresno as right-hander Jordan Johnson (1-6, 5.36) takes the mound for Sacramento on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are waiting to announce their game-two starter. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT). Additional Notes
• The fifth-inning solo shot from Peter Bourjos was the first home run hit by a River Cats player since August 9 when it was once again Bourjos clearing the fence.
• The River Cats drew five walks in Wednesday's game, which was the most since July 26 when they also drew five.
