Brad Goldberg Recalled by White Sox Today

(BUFFALO, NY) -- RHP Brad Goldberg , who has compiled a 2-1 record with a 1.99 ERA and four saves for the Charlotte Knights in 17 games this season, has been recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. Goldberg takes the roster spot of RHP Michael Ynoa , who was placed on Chicago's 10-day disabled list with a right hip flexor strain.
 

Goldberg becomes the 11th Charlotte Knights player promoted to the White Sox this season. RHP Tommy Kahnle (April 6), catcher Kevan Smith (April 13 & May 10), outfielder WillyGarcia (April 14 & May 2), RHP Mike Pelfrey (April 22), RHP Chris Beck (April 25), LHP David Holmberg (May 4), RHP Gregory Infante (May 15), RHP Tyler Danish (May 26), RHP Juan Minaya (May 26), and outfielder Adam Engel (May 27), are the others who have received promotions this year.

Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 10th round of the June 2013 First-Year-Player Draft, Goldberg, 27, has not allowed a run over his last eight appearances (10.1 innings pitched). He has allowed just five earned runs in 22.1 innings total this season with the Knights.

Last season, the Cleveland, OH native represented the Charlotte Knights at the 2016 Triple-A Baseball All-Star Game, which took place at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. He went 3-5 with 10 saves and a 2.84 ERA in 43 games for the Knights last year.

Chicago White Sox RHP James Shields will start for the Knights tonight as he makes a major league rehab appearance. The Knights and Buffalo Bisons will play game two of their three-game series with first pitch from Coca-Cola Park on tap for 6:05 p.m. tonight.
