LumberKings open series with third straight win
Bryson Brigman launched his second home run of the season to put the LumberKings on top for the good in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 6-3 win over Beloit.

CLINTON, IA (June 13, 2017) - The Clinton LumberKings rode a strong start from Robert Dugger to a 6-3 win over the Beloit Snappers to open the series on Tuesday night at Ashford University Field. Bryson Brigman put the LumberKings (28-34) on top for good with his second in the sixth inning.
Robert Dugger continued to thrive in the LumberKings starting rotation. The Midwest League All-Star, was stingy in his fourth start of the year, earning his second win since moving into the Clinton starting rotation. The start was Dugger's (3-1) longest of the year, he worked six innings striking out four and walking none.
The LumberKings broke a scoreless tie with a two-run rally in the bottom of the third inning. Clinton loaded the baes on a lead-off single from Gareth Morgan and walks to Nick Zammarelli III and Dimas Ojeda. Luis Rengifo drove home the first run of the night on a double-play ball to second that moved Zammarelli to third. Jhombeyker Morales then floated a single to center to score the second run of the inning.
Dugger's only blemish of the night came in the fifth inning when Collin Theroux launched a two-run home run to left that tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, the LumberKings broke the tie with on a Bryson Brigman home run to left. The home run was the only hit allowed by Snappers (31-33) reliver Joseph Camacho who was hung with the loss in his season debut. Brigman homered on the first pitch from Camacho (0-1) for his second home run of the season.
The LumberKings added three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Heath Bowers, who followed Camacho out of the Beloit bullpen, allowed all three runs to score in the inning with two men out. The only hit of the inning came from Morgan who drove home the final two runs of the inning with a bases loaded single to center.
Jack Anderson worked the ninth for Clinton and set down the first two batters of the inning. Miguel Mercedes and Kyle Nowlin extend the game with back-to-back doubles to score the Snappers third and final run of the game. Anderson then retired Edwin Diaz on a chopper to second to end the game.
The LumberKings have now won three straight and six of their last seven games.
The LumberKings will play game two of their three-game home stand and series with the Beloit Snappers on Wednesday night. Right-handed pitcher Brandon Miller (7-3, 3.80) will take the ball for Clinton and face Beloit's left-handed pitcher Kyle Tomey (0-1, 31.50). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM (CDT) with the pregame show beginning at 6:15 PM (CDT) on 100.3 FM WCCI Erik Oas is on the call. Wednesday's are "Wing Wednesday" at Ashford University Field with 50 cent wings all game long.
