LYNCHBURG, Va. (April 25, 2018) - The Dash offense tallied nine runs on 16 hits-including seven doubles-to cruise to a 9-3 win over Lynchburg in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader. After falling 4-3 in game one, Winston-Salem splits the doubleheader with the Hillcats to set up a rubber game in Thursday's series finale.
It was a banner night for multiple members of the starting lineup.
The Dash (11-9) offense got off to hot start against Hillcats left-hander Tanner Tully (1-1), beginning the ballgame with three consecutive hits.
But, the Hillcats struck back with a pair of two-baggers of their own. In the bottom of the first inning, Dillon Persinger and Conner Capel smacked back-to-back doubles down the right field line to cut the Dash lead in half. Then, after Capel stole third, Jodd Carter hit a slow roller up the middle that resulted in a game-tying infield single.
Those would be the only runs Dash starter
Winston-Salem retook the lead in the third. After Booker and Call notched back-to-back singles, Basabe delivered his second RBI double of the night to make it a 3-2 contest. Adolfo followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Dash a two-run lead.
Adolfo broke the game open in the fifth. With runners on first and second and one out, he blasted a three-run homer over the video board in right-center - his fifth longball of the season - to give Winston-Salem a 7-2 advantage.
The top four batters in the Winston-Salem order (Booker, Call, Basabe and Adolfo) finished the night a combined 10-for-14 with six doubles, a home run, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.
The Hillcats got a run back in the sixth against right-hander
