SCARBOROUGH, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of June 24th through June 30th.

Akron RubberDucks outfielder Alex Call has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 24th-June 30th. The 24-year old batted .313 (10-for-32) with one double, one triple, three home runs, eight RBIs, four runs scored, and a .688 slugging percentage in seven games for the RubberDucks last week. Call, who is a native of Burnsville, Minnesota, had at least one hit in six of the seven games he played in last week and had multiple hits in two of those games, including a pair of three hit performances on June 27th at Akron and on June 30th at Bowie. He also ended the week by homering in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday at Bowie. The 6'0", 188 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in total bases (22) last week and tied for the league lead in home runs (3) and RBIs (8). He also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in slugging percentage (.688-3rd), triples (1-tied 3rd), hits (10-5th), and OPS (1.001-tied 9th). Alex, who is hitting .257 with four homers and 14 RBIs in 27 games with the RubberDucks this season, was acquired by the Cleveland Indians in a trade with the Chicago White Sox on December 15, 2018. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the third round of the 2016 draft out of Ball State University.

Garrett Williams, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 24th-June 30th. The 6'1", 200 lb. hurler started one game for the Flying Squirrels last week and had a record of 1-0 with nine strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Williams, who is a native of Lubbock, Texas, made his lone start of the week on Saturday night against the visiting Hartford Yard Goats and fired seven shutout innings in Richmond's 4-0 win. He gave up just one hit while striking out nine batters and walking two while recording his fourth scoreless outing in his last five starts. After giving up a walk and a single in the first inning, Williams went on to retire 18 of the final 20 batters he faced. The 24-year old ranked first among all Eastern League pitchers in WHIP (0.43) and batting average against (.045) last week and tied for the lead in ERA (0.00). He also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in wins (1-tied 3rd) and strikeouts (9-tied 8th). Garrett, who is ranked by MLB.com as the 19th best prospect in the San Francisco organization, was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 7th round of the 2016 draft out of Oklahoma State University.
