ZEBULON, N.C. - The Carolina Mudcats, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, are thrilled to announce today that starting pitcher Cam Roegner was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on May 13. Roegner started twice and pitched through 13.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts during the last week of games running from May 7 through May 13.

Overall, the 24-year-old Roegner went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA over two starts during the last week of games. He also pitched through a Carolina League high 13.2 innings last week and lowered his Carolina League leading earned run average to a stifling 0.89 for the season. The left-hander also combined to total seven strikeouts, three walks, four hits and a 0.51 WHIP over his two starts between May 7 and May 13.

The Beloit, WI native began the last week's worth of games by leading the Mudcats to a series opening victory in Buies Creek on May 7 at Jim Perry Stadium. He followed that stellar May 7 performance by pitching through seven scoreless innings in his next start on May 12 versus Wilmington at Five County Stadium. Roegner earned victories in both scoreless outings and has totaled five total shutout efforts and five quality starts out of seven starts this season.

Roegner's May 7 start in Buies Creek saw him work through six and 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He allowed a hit in the second on May 7, but faced only three batters in the frame while going on to face the minimum through the fifth. In all, he allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out six while pitching to a 78 game score in his first of two outings last week. Roegner then closed the last week of games on May 12 with a dominating seven inning shutout effort against the Blue Rocks at Five County Stadium. Roegner scattered two hits, walked one and struck out one while leading the Mudcats to the home victory in what his second of two starts last week. Roegner also induced 10 groundouts against five flyouts and stranded four base runners while reaching 91 pitches (55 strikes) and picking up his fourth win on May 12.
The Brewers selected Roegner in the 22nd round of the 2016 Draft out of Bradley University. He was first assigned to the AZL Brewers in 2016 where he pitched to a 1.00 ERA while allowing just one run on four hits over four games and nine innings pitched. Roegner then went on to the Helena Brewers in July of 2016 and went on to go 2-3 with a 3.66 ERA over 10 games and four starts. He also totaled 20 strikeouts, 14 walks and a .261 average against over 32.0 innings with Helena in 2016. Roegner moved up to Low-A Wisconsin last year and ended up going 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA over 19 games, 10 starts and 78.1 innings pitched. He also totaled 72 strikeouts, 24 walks and a .253 average against last season with Wisconsin.
Roegner is the third Mudcats player earn player of the week honors this season. Outfielder Ryan Aguilar earned Carolina League Player of the Week award honors for the week of April 16 through April 22. Outfielder/infielder Weston Wilson then won then won the same award the following week, the week of April 23 through April 29.
