Cardinals Fall in Finale but Win Series Against Greeneville

GREENEVILLE, TN - After taking games one and two, the Johnson City Cardinals looked for their first series sweep of the season. The Cardinals would take a tie game to the bottom of the eighth, but Greeneville would push four runs across the plate and win 7-3.Greeneville got the scoring

GREENEVILLE, TN - After taking games one and two, the Johnson City Cardinals looked for their first series sweep of the season. The Cardinals would take a tie game to the bottom of the eighth, but Greeneville would push four runs across the plate and win 7-3.
Greeneville got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with one run. The Cardinals were held hitless until the top of the fourth when NolanGorman singled to lead off the inning. LeandroCedeno then doubled to left field and Gorman scored from third to tie the game at one.
ColinSchmid got the start for Johnson City, his fifth of the season. Colin went six innings, surrendering seven hits, three earned runs, and notched a season high six strikeouts. 
The Cardinals took their first lead of the game in the top of the fifth. AndrewWarner led off with a walk in the top of the fifth. MichaelPerri doubled and Warner went to third. With one out and runners on second and third, NolanGorman hit a two-RBI single to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead. 
The Reds answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and the game stayed tied at three until the bottom of the eighth when Greeneville put four runs on the board and would go on to win 7-3 over Johnson City.
The Cardinals used one pitcher after ColinSchmid. JuanAlvarez, pitched one inning for the Cardinals. In the his one inning of work, Alvarez gave up three hits, four earned runs and took his second loss of the season.
The Cardinals will begin a series at Bristol on Monday. The Cardinals and Pirates will play a doubleheader on Monday with game one starting at 6:00 p.m. Game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
