JUPITER, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals (29-20) hang on to defeat the Tampa Tarpons (18-31) with a 4-3 victory on Friday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. With the win, Palm Beach extends their win streak to four games and win the series. The Cardinals stay in first place in the FSL East Division leading the Jupiter Hammerheads by one game as Jupiter continues on their four-game win streak.

For the fourth consecutive game in the series, the Cardinals scored the first run. In the bottom of the first inning off of Tampa starting pitcher Ryan Harvey (L, 2-3), Trey Paige led off with a walk followed by Sammy Hernandez being hit by a pitch. Later in the frame, with Paige at third base and two outs, Tampa catcher Tomas Frick would overthrow third base which allowed Paige to come in to score and make it 1-0 Palm Beach after one inning.

In the next inning, the Cardinals loaded the bases with no outs. Hernandez would clear the bases on a three-RBI double to quadruple the Palm Beach lead to 4-0.

Just like last night, the Cardinals offense took a seat for a large chunk of the game as Tampa began their comeback attempt. In the top of the third inning, Tampa got on the scoreboard for the first time when Roderick Arias drove in Daury Arias on an RBI groundout. Two batters later, Jackson Castillo would hit an ground-rule RBI double to right field scoring George Lombard Jr. to make it a 4-2 Cardinals' lead.

Palm Beach starting pitcher Jose Davila would not factor in the decision after finishing with three innings and two earned runs in the ballgame. With Benjamin Arias (W, 2-1) on the mound in relief for Palm Beach in the top of the fifth inning, Willy Montero would drive in Castillo on an RBI double to bring the Tarpons to within one run at 4-3.

However, both bullpens kept the offenses from getting another runner across home plate. Palm Beach relievers Henry Gomez (H, 2) and Zack Showalter (Sv, 3) combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings and five strikeouts to secure the 4-3 victory on Friday night.

Palm Beach finishes the month of May by going 15-13 with two series wins and look to extend their win streak to five games on Saturday, June 1st against the Tarpons with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. It is a Kids Club Saturday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium and you can click here to become a member.
