Post-Game Recap: Modesto defeats Stockton 5-3
In a comeback thriller at John Thurman Field, the Modesto Nuts emerged victorious over the Stockton Ports with a final score of 5-3. The game was a tale of two halves, with the Nuts showcasing their offensive prowess in the latter part of the game. C Josh Caron’s (1-for-3, 3 RBI) mammoth 3-run HR helped Modesto's offense come alive in the 7th inning, scoring four crucial runs that proved to be the difference-maker. The Ports had initially held a 3-1 lead but were unable to maintain their advantage as the Nuts rallied with timely hitting.
The game featured a standout performance from the Nuts' bullpen, particularly from reliever RHP Jesse Wainscott (3-3, 4.53 ERA), who earned the win with a scoreless inning of work. Wainscott's efforts were complemented by a solid save from RHP Hunter Cranton (1-1, 3.68 ERA), who secured his third save of the season with a final inning of work for the good guys. On the other side, Stockton's RHP Mark Adamiak (5-5, 4.98 ERA) took the loss, struggling to contain Modesto's lineup as he allowed four earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning.
Offensively for Stockton, CF Rodney Green (1-for-3, 2B) and DH Cameron Leary (BB, SB, R) were key contributors. Despite a valiant effort by Stockton, the Ports could not keep up with Modesto's late-game surge. Caron's three RBIs were too much for the Ports' as their offense sputtered in the late innings.
The two teams will meet up again tomorrow, first pitch scheduled at 7:05 pm, for the 2nd game of this 6-game series that will wrap up the regular season of California League play.
