The Carolina offense backed up Harber's stellar start with an offensive outburst that featured six runs on 11 hits, including three solo home runs. All three home runs were allowed by Keys (4-14, 39-48) starter Alex Wells and came off the bats of Carroll, Orimoloye and Wilson.
Carroll's home run came in the third and broke a scoreless tie as it gave the Mudcats a 1-0 lead. It was also his fourth of the season and his second of the series against the Keys. Carroll finished the game 1-for-4 with a run and a RBI.
With Carolina leading 2-0 through the fourth, Orimoloye and Wilson then came through with back-to-back solo homers in the fifth to lift the lead to 4-0 midway through the game. Orimoloye's home run was his second with the Mudcats and seventh overall this season. He finished the game 1-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Wilson's home run was his team leading 10th of the season and stretched his current hitting streak to nine straight games.
Wells (3-6, 4.13) suffered the loss for the Keys after allowing four runs and six hits over four and 1/3 innings. He also walked two and struck out six in the start for Frederick.
Carolina led 4-0 in the fifth when Wells left and later took a 6-0 lead after collecting three straight two-out hits and scoring twice against reliever Travis Seabrooke in the seventh. Cooper Hummel had a RBI double in the seventh and Dustin Houle tallied a run scoring single as the Mudcats went up 6-0 late in the game.
Seabrooke pitched through two and 2/3 innings for the Keys and allowed two runs on four hits while also totaling four strikeouts. Zach Matson pitched the eighth and ended up with two strikeouts and one hit allowed in his appearance.
Houle went 2-for-4 with a RBI in the game for Carolina. Devin Hairston also went 2-for-4, as did Wilson as he went 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Pat McInerney also contributed with a run scoring single in the fourth while going 1-for-4. His double scored Ryan Aguilar as he had doubled earlier in the inning while going 1-for-4 as well.
Frederick's lone run came in the ninth after they rallied for a run and three hits off reliever Daniel Brown in the final frame. Brown originally entered the game in the eighth in place of Harber and finished his appearance with a run allowed on three hits.
Sunday's victory lifted Carolina to a 11-6 record in the second half and was their sixth win of a seven game home stand. It was also their 15th win over their last 22 games.
