WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Dallas Carroll went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles, Robie Rojas also went 2-for-3 with two runs and starter Braden Webb held the Dash to two runs over five and 1/3 innings as the Mudcats won a rain shortened, eight inning game 6-2 on Sunday evening at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem.

With the victory, the Mudcats (6-5) managed to salvage a victory, while finishing 1-3 in their four game road series against the Dash (7-4) in Winston-Salem. The win also snapped Carolina's three game losing streak and was the club's first road victory of the season.
The Mudcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after Carroll started the game with a lead off double off Winston-Salem's starter Jimmy Lambert. Carroll then moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a sacrifice fly from Keston Hiura.
Carolina led 1-0 after the first, but Winston-Salem's Micker Adolfo tied the game in the second after hitting a home run to left. The homer was Adolfo's second in as many games and his second overall on the season.
Webb (1-1, 5.14) gave up the big fly to Adolfo, but then went on to hold the Dash scoreless over the next three frames. The Mudcats gave him a lead to work with again in the third after Rojas started the frame with a single before later scoring from third on a wild pitch lost by Lambert (1-1, 2.61).
Lambert worked through the fifth, but left the game after walking Carroll and retiring Hiura on strikes in the sixth. Matt Foster followed out of the Dash pen and immediately gave up a run scoring double to Tucker Neuhaus and a RBI single to Ronnie Gideon. The two-run sixth put the Mudcats 4-1, but the Dash answered right back after rallying for a run and two hits off Webb in the sixth.
Webb worked through five and 1/3 innings and allowed just two runs on six hits in what was his second start of the season. He left during the sixth after giving up doubles to Gavin Sheets and Zach Remillard and allowing one run in the frame. Nattino Diplan took over for Webb in the sixth and went on to get Carolina out of the frame with two quick outs.
Carolina went on to extend its lead with two more runs in the seventh after collecting four straight hits off Foster to start the inning. Rojas started the rally with a double and went on to score on a RBI single to center from Carlos Belonis. Carroll then followed with a RBI double to deep right, scoring Belonis and putting the Mudcats up 6-2. Hiura later followed with a single of his own, but Foster eventually settled down and held the Mudcats without another run in the inning.
With the rain steadily falling in Winston-Salem, Diplan (S, 1) worked through a scoreless seventh while putting the Mudcats in position to earn the victory. A bolt of lightening off in the distance beyond center halted play just as the eighth was about to begin and after a :30 minute delay, the game was called in the eighth.
Diplan worked through an inning and 2/3, walked two and struck out one while earning his first save of the season. Foster ended up allowing seven hits and three runs over an inning and 2/3 out of the Dash bullpen.
Sunday's game was the finale of the four game series and the fourth game of Carolina's seven game road trip. The Mudcats currently sit at 1-3 in their first road trip of the season, with three games remaining in Wilmington before returning home.
The Mudcats next play on Monday night in Wilmington with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. RHP Marcos Diplan (0-0, 2.53) will get the start for the Mudcats in Monday's series opener against LHP Cristian Castillo (0-1, 4.35)
and the Blue Rocks. The game will air on the Mudcats Radio Network, The Big Dawg 98.5 FM and online at carolinamudcats.com via TuneIn Radio. It will also stream via live video on MiLB.tv.
