Macuare faced two over the minimum while breezing three in four innings of work.
Adrian Chaidez, pitching for the first time since June 30, turned in a scoreless fifth by stranding runners and second and third to preserve a 2-0 Hooks edge.
Brown improved to 5-1 in holding the RoughRiders to one hit and one walk while striking out five over the final four frames. Since the beginning of June, the 24-year-old from Nashville is 3-0 with a 1.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a .205 batting average in 12 games (six starts).
Corpus Christi notched its two runs in the second. Chad Stevens sent a 3-2 pitch over the bullpen in left-center for his 13th home run of the year, and his fifth blast in the last 21 games.
