Manuel Urias pitched well in his second start of the season. The right-hander allowed two solo Home Runs to the shallow part of McCormick Field but that was the only damage suffered in the first four frames. Rome used three runs in the fifth to build a 5-0 lead; however, Logan Cerny led off the bottom of the fifth with a deep Home Run to left.
Asheville rallied for three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Narbe Cruz snuck an RBI double inside the first base bag and two more runs scored on a Rome throwing error. The Tourists then brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to claw any closer. Rome scored four in the top of the ninth to salt the game away.
Pascanel Ferreras, Tyler Whitaker, and Luis Baez all chipped in a hit for the Tourists while Jose Guedez and Ian Foggo pitched the last four innings for the home team. The series finale is scheduled for 1:05pm ET Sunday.
