The Hooks trailed 1-0 until Cesar punched a base hit into center field, scoring Carmen Benedetti who reached via an automatic double.
Corpus Christi then piled on lefty Brett Martin in the sixth. With one away, Nick Tanielu walked and Benedetti singled into right field. Cesar was next and swatted a hanging breaking ball onto to the left-field berm for his first Double-A dinger. Myles Straw capped the rally by sending a two-run triple off Ryne Slack down the right-field line.
Chris Nunn, making his Hooks debut, made the 6-1 lead stand by tossing 4.1 scoreless frames.
Cionel Pérez permitted one unearned run over the first 4.2 innings. Perez, who struck out five against one walk, was forced to exit the game due to a pitch count of 83. The lefty from Cuba has not allowed an earned run in his last three assignments, spanning 12.2 innings.
The Hooks swiped four bases, giving them a Texas League best 37 steals on the season. Ryne Birk, who doubled twice Saturday night, led the charge with two.
In addition to his two hits, Straw turned in an impressive outfield assist from the track in center, throwing out Hunter Cole, who overshot second base on a double.
