Chandler (6-1) earned his sixth win of the season for a seven-inning outing in which he held the Captains to no runs on just three hits while walking one and striking out four.
Kyle Wilcox followed Chandler out of the bullpen and continued the suffocating pitching. Over the final two innings Wilcox did not allow a batter to reach against him as he struck out four including striking out the side in order in the bottom of the ninth. Clinton pitching combined to no-hit Lake County over the final six innings as they registered their seventh shutout win of the season.
The LumberKings jumped out early on Captains starter
Hillman (3-10) settled down following the first but was still hung with the loss. Over his five innings of work he surrendered five hits while walking three and striking out nine.
In the top of the eighth inning, Clinton broke out for their largest rally of the night.
The LumberKings will continue their road trip with the opener of a three-game series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Saturday night. Clinton will throw left-hander Ray Kerr (3-9, 4.34) while the TinCaps will counter with lefty
