Portland dropped two of three in the series but finished 3-3 against Erie this season.
Michael Chavis and Bobby Dalbec put on a home run show, each hitting two homers. Chavis put the 'Dogs on the board in the first, launching a two-run shot on the first pitch form Alex Faedo (1-4). On the very next pitch, Dalbec crushed a monster homer on top of the arena in left field.
Dalbec hit his second homer in the fourth, a solo-shot off Faedo and Chavis hit a two-out solo blast in the fifth. Faedo suffered the loss for Erie, allowing a career-high four homes over five innings on ten hits.
The 'Dogs clinched the win in the sixth inning with five runs off Joe Navilhon. Jordan Betts led off the frame with a solo homer, his fourth of the year. Later in the inning, Johnny Bladel added an RBI single, Chad De La Guerra hit a two-run double, and Tate Matheny (3-for-4) nailed a run-scoring triple.
Dedgar Jimenez (7-7) was outstanding for Portland, earning the win in his first career start against Erie. Jimenez worked six innings on three hits, two runs, one walk and seven strikeouts.
Erie scored seven unanswered runs in the last two innings, all with two outs. Jordan Weems walked two with two outs in the ninth but retired Kody Eaves to end the game and secure his fifth save.
The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Akron RubberDucks (Indians affiliate) on Friday night at Canal Park. Lefty Daniel McGrath (1-3, 3.38) makes a start for Portland.
