GRAND CHUTE, WI - Both teams scored early before the pitching and defense took over in Friday's contest between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Peoria Chiefs at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Unfortunately for the home team, it was the Chiefs who scored twice and made the lead stand all the way to the finish line for a 2-1 victory over the Rattlers in game one of a four-game series.
The Chiefs (58-37 overall, 9-5 second half) had a 1-0 lead two batters into the game.
Peoria loaded the bases in the top of the second inning and scored when Wisconsin starting pitcher
The Chiefs almost added to their advantage in the top of the fourth as Herrera gave up a walk and a single to the first two hitters he faced before leaving the game. Reliever JT Hintzen came into the game and gave up a single to JR Davis, but centerfielder
From that point of the game, the Chiefs did not get another base runner. Hintzen retired the final eight batters he faced.
