Burlington, IA - A day after losing a five-run lead and allowing seven-run inning, the Peoria Chiefs lost a three-run lead and allowed eight runs in an inning while losing 11-4 to the Burlington Bees on Monday. The loss drops the Chiefs to 19-31 on the season and ends a 3-6 road trip.
The Chiefs jumped out to an early lead for the second day in a row.
Peoria added on in the third inning with a two-out rally.
The lead disappeared in the third as the Bees batted around for the second day in a row.
Young got the Chiefs one run back in the fifth with a solo home run over the high right-field fence. The homer gives Young eight on the season, six on the road and three in a nine at-bat span in Burlington.
Burlington put the game away in the seventh after McCarvel popped out with the bases loaded to end the top of the inning. With one on and one out,
Kilichowski (0-5) took the loss as he allowed eight runs on nine hits over 2 1/3 innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Carter allowed one hit over 2 2/3 shutout innings while striking out three. Sexton hit a batter and struck out a batter over 1 1/3 hitless and shutout innings. Bowen allowed three runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings while striking out one.
