The Peoria Chiefs fell to the Lake County Captains 6-1 on Friday in the series finale falling to 13-9 in the second half and 43-48 overall. Peoria will host the Fort Wayne TinCaps for this first time this season with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch on Saturday.
The Captains scored the first run of the game against Peoria starter Frederis Parra in the first. Luke Wakamatsu singled with one out, and two batters later Li-Jen Chu doubled to the wall in right field to give Lake County a 1-0 lead.
The Chiefs threatened in the bottom of the second inning against Lake County starter Brady Aiken. Vince Jackson drew a one-out walk and Dylan Carlson followed with one of his three doubles on the night to put runners on second and third with only one out. Aiken got Matt Fiedler to line out to shortstop and Kramer Robertson to fly out to center to end the threat.
Lake County added a pair of runs against Chiefs reliever Dewin Perez in the top of the seventh inning. Logan Ice and Jose Medina each singled to put runners on first and second with nobody out. After Perez retired the next two batters, Conner Capel tripled to wall in right-center field with two outs to plate both Ice and Medina and give the Captains a 3-0 advantage.
In the ninth, the Captains took a six-run lead by adding three insurance runs against Chiefs reliever Yeison Medina. Alexis Pantoja and Elvis Perez singled, and Mitch Longo blasted a three-run homer to right field to extend the Lake County lead to 6-0.
Peoria scratched a run across the board in the bottom of the ninth against Lake County's Dalbert Siri. J.R. Davis led off with a single and Carlson connected on his third double of the game to score Davis and give the Chiefs their first run of the night, trailing 6-1. With Carlson at second, Matt Fiedler grounded out to second to end the game.
Parra (1-3) suffered the loss giving up one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings with a pair of strikeouts and one walk. Perez allowed three hits and two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Keaton Siomkin pitched a hitless inning in the eighth striking out two and walking two. Medina allowed three runs on three hits in one relief inning with a strikeout.
