Chiefs Walk Off Cougars Sunday

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs trailed all game before scoring in the 9^th, 10^th and 11^th innings to walk-off the Kane County Cougars 3-2 Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Chiefs back into first place at 22-18 on the season as they head out on a nine-game, eight-day road trip.

     The Cougars jumped out to another early lead with the longball in the top of the fourth on Chiefs starter Evan Guillory. Jasrado Chisholm led off with his third home run in the series, a solo shot down the right field line for a 1-0 advantage.
     Kane County starter Jhoan Duran set down the first 13 batters he faced before Julio Rodriguez reached on a throwing error by Chisholm in the fifth. Matt Fielder walked and JR Davis collected Peoria's first hit of the game with a single to right field to load the bases with one out. Duran worked out of the inning and the Chiefs left the bases loaded.
     Peoria sent the game to extras in the bottom of the ninth against reliever Carlos Bustamante. JR Davis singled and Bryce Denton moved Davis to third on a single to right field with one out. Jose Martinez tied the game 1-1 on a sacrifice fly to right that scored Davis.
     Yoel Yanqui was the automatic runner at second base for the Cougars to start the top of the tenth against reliever Levi MaVorhis. Yanqui moved to third on a groundout by Ernie De La Trinidad and was brought home on a sacrifice fly to right from Eudy Ramos as the Cougars regained the lead 2-1.
     The automatic runner for the Chiefs in the bottom of the tenth was Scott Hurst against reliever Breckin Williams. Irving Lopez moved Hurst to third on sacrifice bunt and Yariel Gonzalez was intentionally walked to put runners at the corners. Zach Kirtley tied the game 2-2 on a single to right field scoring Hurst, both runners moved into scoring position on a throwing error by right fielder Gabriel Maciel. Kane County walked Rodriguez to load the bases and got of the inning on two groundouts.
     The score stayed tied 2-2 until the bottom of the 11^th inning when the Chiefs walked it off. Davis started the inning at second and went to third on a sac bunt by Denton. Martinez gave the Chiefs a 3-2 win wit ha sacrifice fly to right.
     Guillory threw eight innings allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. MaVorhis did not allow a run on no hits in two innings with one walk and no strikeouts. Bryan Dobzanski (2-1) earned the win with a scoreless 11^th inning allowing no hits with no walks and one strikeout.
