Chiefs Walkoff Wisconsin in Ten Innings

PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Chiefs defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-2 in ten innings on Friday Night at Dozer Park. The game was the final meeting of the season between the teams.
Payton Henry put the Timber Rattlers (46-56 overall, 15-18 second half) in front with an opposite-field, lead-off homer in the top of the third inning.

Zach Davies made the start as part of a rehabilitation assignment for the Milwaukee Brewers and he pitched 2-1/3 perfect innings with four strikeouts on just 30 pitches before turning the game over to Bowden Francis.

Peoria (59-43, 20-12) tied the game in the bottom of the third after Davies left the game. Bowden Francis gave up a single to JR Davis, the first batter he faced. Jose Martinez followed with a bloop double that sent Davis around to third base. Wood Myers got Davis home with a ground out to even the score.

Wisconsin went back in front in the top of the fourth inning. Trever Morrison singled, took second on a wild pitch, and went to third on a throwing error. Kenny Corey put the Rattlers up 2-1 with a sacrifice fly to score.

Nick Plummer tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Rattlers had just three hits in the game and didn't have any after the fifth. 

The Chiefs nearly won the game in the bottom of the ninth. Bryce Denton was at first with two outs when Davis hit a high pop to shallow center. Shortstop Trever Morrison got under the ball, but saw it glance off his glove for an error. Denton, who was running on contact tried to score the winning run, but was out at the plate on a strong throw from Morrison.

Wisconsin stranded two runners in the top of the tenth without scoring and the game went to the bottom of the tenth.

Davis started the tenth at second with Cody Beckman taking over on the mound. Martinez bunted up the third base line and Beckman tried to get Davis at third but he was too late. Myers was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Luken Baker.

Baker would not get a chance to knock in the winning run as Beckman threw a wild pitch on a 2-1 offering and Davis trotted home with the winning run.

The Rattlers ended the season series with the Chiefs at 5-11, including a 1-8 record at Dozer Park. Friday night was the third time the Chiefs recorded a walkoff win over Wisconsin this season. Friday was also the sixth one-run loss the Rattlers suffered at the hands of the Chiefs in 2018.
The Timber Rattlers return home Saturday to begin a seven-game homestand with game one of a four-game series against the Kane County Cougars. Dylan File (6-7, 4.38) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Kane County has named Lane Ratliff (1-1, 5.40) as their starter. Game time at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium is 6:35pm.
Timber Rattlers staff will hand out gift cards, food vouchers, and tickets for future home games to unsuspecting fans throughout the evening and the first 1,000 fans to attend this game will receive a Timber Rattlers T-Shirt as part of Random Acts of Kindness Night with Goodwill NCW. PBS Kids' star Nature Cat is coming to the ballpark to meet his fans and Special Memories Zoo will set up their petting zoo outside the stadium before the game. Tundraland presents the postgame fireworks celebration. After the fireworks, children 14 and under may run the bases courtesy of Meijer.
