Christian Walker Ties Franchise Record With 30th Home Run Of The Season

Las Vegas, NV. - The Reno Aces fell to Las Vegas by a score of 9-7 on Thursday night in front of over at Cashman Field. Zach Borenstein and Christian Walker led the charge offensively for Reno, combining to go 4-for-8 with three home runs and six RBIs. Walker's 30^th blast of the season ties him for most in an Aces single season. Erik Davis takes the loss and moves to 8-1 on the season.
Reno jumped into the scoring column in the top of the fourth inning. Christian Walker started a two-out rally with a homer to deep left center field, his 30^th of the season. Zach Borenstein hit the very next pitch delivered from 51's starter Donovan Hand over the wall for his third home run in two games. Sócrates Brito then singled and Kristopher Negrón doubled, but couldn't scratch across any more runs in the inning.

Las Vegas responded with five of their own. Matt Reynolds, Kevin Plawecki and Travis Taijeron all reached base in consecutive at-bats, scoring two runs and tying the game at two. After two quick outs, Las Vegas drew back-to-back walks setting the table for the 51's starter. Hand singled to drive in two and Cecchini capped off the scoring outburst with a RBI single of his own to give Las Vegas a 5-2 lead.
Aces starter Matt Koch responded to Hand with a single of his own in the top half of the 5^th inning. After Evan Marzilli and Walker each walked, Borenstein brought everyone home with a grand slam to right center field. In the last two games, Borenstein has driven in 11 runs and homered four times. His 20 home runs this season is the most for Borenstein since blasting 28 in 2013 for Inland Empire.
The Aces would add one run in the top of the 6^th inning, but the Las Vegas offense had just enough at-bats left in the game to mount a comeback. Four singles and a double from Vegas would plate four in the home half of the 8^th inning, giving them a 9-7 advantage. Reno was not able to mount a late-inning comeback in the 9^th and left Las Vegas with a 3-1 series win.
The loss moves Reno to a record to 68-50 on the season, one game ahead of the Fresno Grizzlies for first place in the Pacific Coast League Northern Division.
