HELENA, MT - In the wake of a successful first half with the Helena Brewers, infielder Dallas Carroll and outfielder Zach Clark have both been promoted to the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the Midwest League.
Carroll played for the Pioneer League All-Stars on Tuesday night before getting the call to Wisconsin, starting at third base and going 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored. During his 30 games in Helena, the 23-year-old hit .336 with six doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI. He started his professional career on a seven-game hitting streak and hit safely in 23 of 30 starts, including 12 multi-hit games.
A 9th round selection out of the University of Utah by Milwaukee in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft, Carroll was named the Pioneer League Player of the Week for the week of July 17 through July 23. In that stretch, he slashed .450/.560/.850 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI and two stolen bases.
At Utah, Carroll was a career .311 batter, including a sensational 2017 where he hit .369 with 17 doubles, seven home runs and 52 RBI. He was named a 2017 ABCA All-American, earned Pac-12 All-Defensive team honors at third base in 2017 and was named first-team All-Pac-12 in 2016 and 2017.
Clark, a 19th round selection by Milwaukee out of Pearl River College in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft, was the most consistent starter in the outfield for Helena this season. In 30 games, he hit .263 with four doubles, two triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and a team-high six stolen bases.
Clark powered the Brewers offense out of the gate, reached base in his first 22 games played. As part of his on-base streak, the 21-year-old hit safely in 14 games from June 25 to July 12, the second longest hitting streak this season in the Pioneer League. Over the course of his hitting streak, Clark hit .386 with three doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.
A native of Springfield, LA, Clark was named the Pioneer League Player of the Week for the week of June 26 through July 2. He slashed .409/.458/.955 with a double, a triple and three home runs. The highlight of the week came on June 28 against Great Falls, when Clark hit a grand slam in an 8-7 Brewers victory over the Voyagers.
Carroll and Clark are the fourth and fifth players to be promoted to Wisconsin this season, joining Andrew Vernon, Carlos Herrera and Yoel Vasquez. The Helena Brewers return from the All-Star Break on Thursday night at 6:40 PM against the Grand Junction Rockies at Sam Suplizio Field.
