Cody Impresses as the Woodies Sweep the Astros
KINSTON, NC -Kyle Cody's dominant start led the Wood Ducks (29-28, 53-73) in the series finale with the Astros (33-23, 70-36) and also finished the first sweep of the year for Down East. With a 3-0 final, Cody only allowed one hit over seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts.

The offense was also strong for the Wood Ducks despite only three runs as they were not retired in order once on Sunday afternoon. All three runs were scored with two outs, as well.

Cody did not allow a runner to second base in his innings or multiple runners to reach. He finished only one over the minimum in his seven innings. Williams ran into a bit of trouble in the eighth by loading the bases with two outs. Springs would enter and induce a pop-out to leave the bases full.
In the ninth, Springs capped of a 1-2-3 final frame with a strikeout to claim the victory. With the sweep, the Woodies move to only 4.5 games back of the Astros with 13 games remaining including four head-to-head matchups to end the season.
