GRAND CHUTE, WIS. - Edwar Colina and the Cedar Rapids Kernels outdueled Aaron Ashby and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a 3-2 wire-to-wire win Sunday at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Colina notched a career-high-tying 10 strikeouts while helping Cedar Rapids (34-22, 66-59) pull even within this three-game series at Wisconsin (29-27, 60-65).
A win and a sixth consecutive quality start highlighted Sunday's stellar showing by Colina (7-4). He allowed only one run over 6,1 innings pitched. Colina also passed Bailey Ober to become Cedar Rapids' individual strikeout leader at 95 total strikeouts this season.

Ashby (1-1) posted a personal-high 10 strikeouts within his quality start but he also suffered his first loss for Timber Rattlers. He yielded just one run in six innings pitched and retired nine consecutive batters in one stretch.
Michael Helman put Cedar Rapids ahead, 1-0, during the first inning. Helman lifted a solo shot over the left-field wall against Ashby for his first Midwest League home run.
The Kernels and the Timber Rattlers each scored in the seventh. David Banuelos reached third base on a double coupled with an error, and Akil Baddoo drove in Bañuelos with an RBI single. Wisconsin trimmed its deficit to 2-1 later in the inning on an RBI single from Gabriel Garcia.
Both teams scored during the ninth inning as well. Michael Davis hit a solo homer to left field that secured a 3-1 Kernels edge. Gilbert Lara tripled for Wisconsin and scored during García's RBI groundout, but Cedar Rapids would hold on for the 3-2 win.
Moises Gomez registered his second save in as many chances by holding the Timber Rattlers to one run over the final 2.1 innings of play.
