JetHawks' Ramos continues power surge

Roberto Ramos was due. 
Not only was he due for a power surge but for a car wash as well, which is how he celebrated extending his home run streak to four games on Friday.
"I honestly haven't washed my car since Spring Training, so I really needed it," Ramos said. "You get to that gas station and you're about to pay and it says, 'Do you need a car wash today?' And I thought, 'well, if it's not today, it won't be any day.'"
The Rockies prospect chipped in a single and a walk and drove in three runs in Lancaster's 7-6, 10-inning loss at the Hangar.

Ramos has doubled his season total over the four-game stretch while raising his slugging percentage to .663 and his OPS to 1.063, both of which lead the California League. 
"I had a little bit of a rough stretch and I've put in a lot of work with the coaching staff here and it's going good right now, so I'm really happy about that," Ramos said. 
After uncorking three homers in an April 8 contest against Modesto, Ramos mustered one in his next 17 games. His recent extra work in batting practice and in the cage has paid dividends. 
"I've been staying more on the ball and work to the deep part of the field, stay gap to gap," he said. "That was our main focus, using the bottom part of my body a little bit more." 
Ramos capped an eight-pitch at-bat in the fourth inning by depositing a ball over the fence in right-center field off San Jose starter Sandro Cabrera. The 23-year-old recorded his second hit in the 10th, lining a single up the middle to score Rockies No. 15 prospect Forrest Wall. 
Ramos is no stranger to the California League, as the College of the Canyons product started the year at Lancaster for the second consecutive season. Ramos hit .297 and thumped 13 homers for the JetHawks in 2017. He appeared in 19 games for Modesto when the Nuts were the Rockies' Class A Advanced affiliate in 2016, hitting .231 with two roundtrippers.

While he'd love to get a promotion to Double-A Hartford, he's not chomping at the bit like you might think. 
"I honestly try not to give it too much thought, even though that's my goal right now," Ramos said. "My ultimate goal is to get to the big leagues, but my next short-term goal is to get to Double-A. I try to take it one day at a time, just enjoy where I'm at and keep working hard. I'm just waiting for an opportunity to get out there and keep moving forward in my career." 
The 10th-inning RBI from Ramos almost tied the game after San Jose's Wander Franco led off the 10th with a two-run homer.
