Cozens Homers Twice, Kingery Sets Record In 5-1 Win

Dylan Cozens drilled his 24^th and 25^th homers, and Scott Kingery extended his hitting streak to 22 games, breaking Domonic Brown's record of 21 consecutive games as the IronPigs (72-58) defeated the Syracuse Chiefs (50-81) by the score of 5-1 Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park before 9,243fans.

Cozens led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his 24^th homer of the season, his first since July 22 at Durham, giving the Pigs a 2-0 lead. He then drilled his second homer of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-run shot to right field to up the Pigs lead to 5-0.
After Cozens first homer in the fourth, with two outs in the frame Brandon Leibrandt walked and Kingery stepped to the plate sitting on a 21-game hitting streak. Kingery saw a 2-2 pitch from Chiefs starter John Simms and sent a bloop single to shallow right field to extend his hitting streak to 22 games.
The Pigs took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, as Brock Stassi drove home J.P. Crawford with a RBI single to right field.
Syracuse would score their lone run in the top of the ninth inning, as Brandon Snyder hit a solo home run to left field to make the score 5-1 Pigs.
After losing his prior three starts, Brandon Leibrandt was spot on Thursday night. The southpaw tossed six scoreless innings, yielding just six hits while striking out a pair as he picked up his fifth win of the season.
With the Rochester loss earlier today, the Pigs are now three games out of the Wild Card Standings with just 11 games remaining.
The Pigs now hit the road for a seven-game road trip, beginning with a three-game series Friday night with the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. The Pigs will send right-hander Henderson Alvarez III (0-0, 0.00), and the Red Sox will send right-hander Justin Haley (2-2, 3.12). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
