Hickory, NC- The Crawdads shutout the Greenville Drive on Friday night, winning 4-0 in front of a crowd of 2,578. For the third consecutive day, the ‘Dads remain a half game out of the division as Bowling Green also won on Friday night.

Jayce Easley gave the ‘Dads a 1-0 lead in the third inning, hitting his third homer of the season.

The Crawdads added an insurance run in the fifth on a homerun by Scott Kapers. The homer was Kapers’ sixth of the year.

The ‘Dads doubled their lead in the sixth inning. Thomas Saggese singled and advanced to second on a balk. Chris Seise walked and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Frainyer Chavez drove Saggese and Seise in on a double to left to put the ‘Dads ahead 4-0.

John Matthews got the start for the Crawdads, pitching five shutout innings. He allowed two hits and walked two while striking out two batters. We picked up the win to move to 3-0 on the season. Linarez took over in the sixth, tossing three shutout innings before turning it over to Spencer Mraz for the final frame.

The series will continue tomorrow night at 7pm. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free tee shirt thanks to Duck Graphics and Kicks 103.3. Tyler’s Amazing Balancing Act will also be performing throughout the game. It is also Black’s Tire & Auto Night and fans can bring a recent receipt for four free tickets to the game.
