Curve Rally Late To Claim Victory Over Patriots

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Altoona Curve (36-28) rallied from a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Somerset Patriots (40-26) 9-7 on Tuesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.

A five-run eighth inning for the Curve was highlighted by a three-run home run by Ji-hwan Bae (1).

The Patriots had powered their way to an early lead on a solo home run by Oswald Peraza (5) in the first and a three-run blast by Isiah Gilliam (4) in the second.

A solo homer by Arden Pabst (4) got Altoona on the board in the third inning.

Canaan Smith Njigba made it a two run ballgame with a bases clearing double in the seventh.

Gilliam added two more runs on sacrifice flies to finish with five RBI in the game.

*Jansen Junk *impressed again in a no decision. He allowed an earned run on two hits and five strikeouts in his six innings.

John O’Reilly (W, 2-3) picked up the win with two innings pitched. Zach Greene (L, 1-3) suffered the loss after he allowed five earned runs in 0.2 innings. Hunter Stratton (S,7) earned the save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

The Patriots and the Curve will continue the series at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday, July 21st with a 7:05 pm game.
