Flying Squirrels reliever to join All-Star festivities in Richmond next week

The All-Star Game takes place on Wednesday at The Diamond with first pitch scheduled for 7:05

RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, in conjunction with the Eastern League of Professional Baseball, announced on Friday Richmond relief pitcher Tyler Cyr has been added to the Eastern League All-Star Game roster. The All-Star Game takes place on Wednesday at The Diamond with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Cyr's addition to the Western Division roster gives the Flying Squirrels seven All-Star selections in 2019, the highest in franchise history.
On the season, Cyr has posted a 2.83 ERA in his 21 relief outings for the Flying Squirrels, added 33 strikeouts over his 28.2 innings of work. He has added one save this year, bringing his career total with the Flying Squirrels to 22, which is tied for the fourth-most in franchise history.
Currently in his third overall season with Richmond, Cyr was also selected as an Eastern League All-Star in 2017. That year, he went 5-2 with a 2.19 ERA in 47 appearances and picked up 18 saves in 20 save attempts. He returned to the Flying Squirrels for eight appearances in 2018, but his season was cut short due to injury.
Cyr, a native of Fremont, Calif., was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the tenth round in 2015 out of Embry-Riddle University.
Along with Cyr, Flying Squirrels pitchers Caleb Baragar and Melvin Adon as well as position players Jonah Arenado, Jacob Heyward, Zach Houchins and Jalen Miller have been selected to participate in next week's Eastern League All-Star Week presented by Genworth events.

The Celebrity Home Run Derby is Tuesday and the festivities wrap up with the 2019 Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday.
