VANCOUVER, BC – Minor League Baseball has named Canadians starting pitcher Dahian Santos as the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for May 22-28. He is the fourth consecutive C’s pitcher to earn the distinction this season after Chad Dallas, Trenton Wallace and Devereaux Harrison took home the honor the last three weeks.
Santos, 20, took the mound on Saturday, May 27 at Spokane’s Avista Stadium for game one of a scheduled doubleheader and logged five scoreless innings with three hits, no walks and four strikeouts to earn his second win of the season. The right-hander’s efforts were especially impressive given the downpour he pitched through in the final two innings of his outing; the game was called due to rain after five and a half innings to hand Vancouver a 6-0 win.
The Acarigua, VZ native has been especially good this month. He’s 1-1 with a 2.65 ERA in 17.0 May innings with 16 strikeouts, eight walks and has limited opponents to a .186 batting average.
Back with the C’s for his second season in High-A, Santos was signed by Toronto as an international free agent on July 2, 2019.
Dahian and the Canadians are back at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium Tuesday through Sunday this week for a six-game set against the Eugene Emeralds [Giants].
