Daniels Belts Deep Home Run in 11-5 Loss

ROME- The Asheville Tourists dropped their fifth straight contest on Friday night with an 11-5 loss to the Rome Braves. Asheville had several scoring opportunities go by the boards early in the contest and the Braves offense took charge in the middle innings. The Tourists showed fight late in the game with three runs down the stretch.
In the top of the first inning JC Correa gave Asheville a 1-0 lead with an RBI double to deep left-center. Asheville had runners at first and third with no outs in the second but came away empty-handed. In the third, the Tourists put two on with no outs and had the bases loaded with one out; however, they failed to score once again.
After an Asheville single and a walk in the fourth inning resulted in no runs, Rome’s offense was jump started in the bottom of the fourth. Cristian Gonzalez dropped a pop up to allow the tying run to score and the next batter hit a three-run Home Run to give the Braves a 4-1 lead.
Correa netted his second RBI hit in the top of the fifth but the Braves went on to score the game’s next seven runs. Trailing 11-2, Zach Daniels blasted a two-run Home Run in the top of the eighth inning. Jose Alvarez delivered an RBI single later in the frame.
Daniels finished the game 3-for-4 and Quincy Hamilton reached base four times from the leadoff spot. Kyle Gruller worked 1.2 scoreless innings out of the Tourists bullpen.
