BOWLING GREEN, KY (July 17, 2021) — The Winston-Salem Dash fell on Saturday night for the fifth consecutive game against the Bowling Green Hot Rods by the score of 8-1.
Bowling Green opened up the scoring in the second inning as Erik Ostberg hit his sixth homer of the year—a two-run shot to put the Hot Rods in front 2-0.
Dash starter Johan Dominguez kept Bowling Green silent until the fifth inning when Jacson McGowan scored on a groundout by Greg Jones.
Caleb Freeman relieved Dominguez in the sixth inning and allowed a base hit from Evan Edwards to score Jordan Qsar, moving Bowling Green further ahead at 4-0.
The Hot Rods tallied a couple more against Sal Biasi in the seventh inning, beginning with a sacrifice fly from Pedro Martinez to score Hill Alexander. Jordan Qsar racked an RBI by fashioning a single to plate Greg Jones.
Winston-Salem plated their first run of the game in the eighth as Yolbert Sanchez hit a bloop single to right field to push Jagger Rusconi across and move the score to 6-1.
Bowling Green added a two more insurance runs in the eighth as Luis Trevino and Jacson McGowan hit back-to-back RBI singles.
The Hot Rods took game five by the score of 8-1. Hot Rods starter Jacob Lopez (3-1) snagged the win for Bowling Green. Johan Dominguez (3-5) took the loss for Winston-Salem.
