HICKORY, N.C. (August 18, 2021) — The Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Hickory Crawdads by a whopping 13-2 on Wednesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Jeremiah Burke took the mound for Winston-Salem and was homered on in the first by Dustin Harris to put Hickory in front 2-0.

The Dash revved up the offense in the fourth inning. Luis Mieses and Samir Dueñez launched back-to-back solo homers to knot the game at two. Afterwards, Lazaro Leal doubled on a liner to center, took third on a groundout and scored on another groundout to give the Dash a 3-2 edge.

Samir Dueñez doubled up on the longball with another solo bomb in the sixth.

The Dash scored again the eighth inning as Luis Curbelo singled and stole second, after which he was driven in on a double by left field by Lazaro Leal.

Winston-Salem ran away with the game by plating eight runs in the ninth inning. Six of the eight runs came from two three-run blasts from Evan Skoug and Luis Mieses. The offensive barrage led the Dash to a 13-2 victory over Hickory.

Reliever Trey Jeans (3-4) took the win for Winston-Salem. Justin Slaten (4-7) was credited with the loss for Hickory.

The two teams will square off in a doubleheader on Thursday to make up for the rained-out contest which was planned for Tuesday night. First pitch for game one is slated for 5:00 p.m. ET.
