SALEM, Va. (May 26, 2019) - Thanks to their second consecutive 19-hit effort, the Dash defeated the Salem Red Sox 8-5 on Sunday afternoon at Haley Toyota Field.
With the game tied at three in the top of the fifth, Winston-Salem (26-23) took the lead for good against Red Sox starter Daniel Gonzalez (1-5). On a 1-2 pitch with one out, Fisher drilled a solo shot to center to make it a 4-3 contest.
On the next pitch, Remillard smacked a solo homer to left-center to put the Dash up two. It was the first instance of back-to-back homers for the Dash since June 21, 2018, when Blake Rutherford and Micker Adolfo went back-to-back against Down East at BB&T Ballpark.
Later in the frame, Muno crushed a two-run blast to left-center to push Winston-Salem's edge to four. During the Dash's current road trip, Muno is 8-for-11.
Walker capped the Dash's scoring efforts in the sixth with an RBI single that brought home Madrigal. Gonzalez went 5.1 innings in the loss, allowing 14 hits and eight runs.
On the other side,
Less than 24 hours after its 17-3 win against the Red Sox (18-30) on Friday, Winston-Salem struck first in the top of the first inning. Madrigal doubled with one out, and Walker followed with a run-scoring double to make it 1-0.
In the second, Muno walked with two outs, and, after stealing second base, he came in to score on a single to right from Yrizarri.
Cavanerio posted three consecutive scoreless frames to begin his third start as a White Sox farmhand, but Salem knotted the contest in the fourth. After back-to-back singles from Ryan Fitzgerald and Pedro Castellanos, Edgar Corcino lined a two-run double to left-center to cut the deficit to one.
Corcino moved to third on a ground from Marcus Wilson, and, two batters later, Charlie Madden tied the game at three with a sacrifice fly. Despite knotting the contest, Salem has not led at any point over the last two contests.
