MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (April 9, 2018) - The Winston-Salem Dash fired off two runs in the top of the ninth inning on Monday night to cap a come-from-behind 6-4 win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
With the game tied at four, Mitch Roman singled to begin the inning for Winston-Salem (2-3) against Myrtle Beach (1-4) reliever Chad Hockin (0-1). A wild pitch moved Roman to second before Luis Alexander Basabe cashed him in. Basabe stole third and then Blake Rutherford, who finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4. In the last four innings, Winston-Salem scored five unanswered runs.

After the Pelicans had built a 4-1 lead, the Dash scored one run in the fifth on a Nate Nolan RBI double. In the sixth, Micker Adolfo racked up an RBI double before Nolan tied the game on a bases-loaded walk. 
Nolan not only went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and the catcher also picked up two assists.
The scoring starting in the second inning when Aramis Ademan rammed an RBI triple down the right field line for the Pelicans. P.J. Higgins then knocked in two more with a two-run single to make it 3-0 Pelicans. After a run from Winston-Salem in the third, Higgins lifted a sacrifice fly into center field to make it 4-1. However, the lead did not hold.
Former Coastal Carolina University pitcher Mike Morrison earned the win by throwing a scoreless final two frames.
Fellow Dash teammate and former Chanticleer Zach Remillard went 0-for-3 in the game for Winston-Salem.
Birds starter Alex Lange pitched five innings, yielding just two runs, one earned, on four hits with four strikeouts.
On Tuesday, the Pelicans will take on the Winston-Salem Dash for game two of the three-game series at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. RHP Matt Swarmer is slated to start for Myrtle Beach at 7:05 p.m., while Winston-Salem will counter with RHP Jimmy Lambert.
