Dawson went 9-for-20 with seven runs scored, one double, two home runs, and three RBIs this past week. The Grove City, Ohio, native was a triple shy of the cycle Saturday night against Springfield.
Selected by the Astros in the second round of the 2016 draft out of Ohio State, Dawson is hitting .350 with a 1.095 OPS in 11 games since being called up from the Carolina League. Of his 14 Texas League hits, seven have gone for extra bases: three doubles, one triple, and three home runs.
In 101 games between Corpus Christi and Buies Creek this season, the 23-year-old speedster owns 21 doubles, 13 home runs, and 53 RBIs. He was tied for the Carolina League lead with 29 stolen bases at the time of his Double-A promotion.
