DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Donning special "Vote for Shelldon" uniforms in homage to the 15th anniversary of "Napoleon Dynamite", 3B Jonathan India clubbed a two-run home run and a trio of pitchers combined to hurl a shutout, as the Daytona Tortugas blanked the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 4-0, in front of 3,206 fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Friday evening.

Scoreless through four-and-a-half frames, Daytona's (17-17) offense sprung to life with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. 1B Yonathan Mendoza (1-2, R, BB, SO) singled to center and two pitches later C Mark Kolozsvary (1-2, 2B, RBI, BB, SO) smashed a deep fly to left-center field. The ball bounced off the base of the fence and the Tavares, Fla. native cruised into second with a run-scoring double, giving the Tortugas a 1-0 lead.
In the sixth, the offense kept the train rolling. SS José Garcia (1-4, R, 2B, SO) doubled down the left-field line to begin the frame and came across to score on a single to right by 2B Alejo Lopez (1-4, R, RBI), stretching the advantage to 2-0. On a 1-0 count, the next batter - India (2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, SO) - cranked a laser to center field. The rising line drive sailed over the fence to the left of the batter's eye in dead center for a two-run home run. The blast - his team-leading fifth of the year - doubled the Tortugas' edge to 4-0.
That was more than enough offense for Daytona's pitching staff, which was splendid on Friday night. RHP Austin Orewiler (5.0 IP, 2 H, BB, SO) tossed five shutout innings of two-hit ball to earn his first win of the season. The bullpen shined as well. RHP Michael Byrne (2.0 IP, 2 H, BB, SO) and RHP Aneurys Zabala (2.0 IP, 3 SO) combined to hurl four spotless frames to complete the four-hit shutout.
LHP Tarik Skubal (5.0+ IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 SO) was solid through four, but could not outduel Daytona's staff. Lakeland's (14-19) southpaw issued four runs in five-plus innings, suffering his third defeat.
The Tortugas will go for the series sweep on Saturday night, as RHP Mac Sceroler (3-0, 4.50 ERA) is expected to make his first start of the year. Lakeland is expected to counter with RHP Elvin Rodríguez (3-2, 2.90 ERA).
The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 6:50 p.m. ET, leading up to the 7:05 p.m. ET start at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Saturday evening's game can be heard on daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.
