De La Guerra homers twice in 8-6 win at New Hampshire

Manchester, N.H. - The Portland Sea Dogs (29-46) scored seven runs in the fourth inning and held on to beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (44-31), 8-6 on Monday night in the series opener at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Portland sent 12 men to the plate in the fourth off losing pitcher T.J. Zeuch (5-3). Tate Matheny tied the game with a grand slam, his first Double-A homer. Danny Mars gave the 'Dogs a 5-4 lead with an RBI single. Later in the inning, Chad De La Guerra hit a two-run homer to cap off the seven-run frame.
De La Guerra hit his second homer with one out in the sixth inning to give Portland an 8-4 lead. For the season, De La Guerra has eight homers but three in his last six at-bats.
Dedgar Jimenez (3-6) tied a season-high with 105 pitches and worked five innings to earn his second straight road win. Jimenez allowed two homers on five hits, four runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
Trevor Kelley allowed one run over two innings, and Matthew Gorst notched his first Double-A save, pitching two innings on one unearned run and one strikeout.
New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off Jimenez. With two outs, Bo Bichette homered, and Cavan Biggio hit a two-run homer. The 'Cats produced a second two-out homer in the third when Bo Bichette made it 4-0 with a two-run homer to right field.
Portland has won a season-high five straight road games, and four of seven from New Hampshire this season.
The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) continue their four-game series on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Lefty Kyle Hart (5-4, 3.18) is on the hill for Portland. New Hampshire counters with Right-hander Josh DeGraaf (1-4, 7.27).
