LANSING, Mich. – Joelvis Del Rosario fired six scoreless innings, Daniel Susac homered, and the Lansing Locos (17-24, 48-58) used a seven-run eighth inning to rout the Fort Wayne TinCaps (22-19, 54-53), 10-1, in front of a Copa de la Diversión Latino Night crowd of 7,467 on Saturday night at Jackson® Field™.

After dropping the first two games of the series, Lansing has totaled 24 runs in winning three straight against Fort Wayne.

Del Rosario set the tone, limiting the TinCaps to three hits and three walks while striking out seven – including five consecutive batters from the fourth through the sixth innings. He stranded a runner at third in the second, leaving the bases loaded in the third, and induced a double play to escape a first-and-third jam in the sixth, extending his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 16 1/3 innings.

But the game was tied entering the late-going, with a second-inning T.J. Schofield-Sam RBI single and a fifth-inning Susac two-run homer giving the Locos to a 3-1 lead entering the last of the eighth.

Then things became more comfortable against relievers Will Geerdes and Alan Mundo.

Euribiel Ángeles singled home Colby Thomas and Carlos Amaya. Junior Pérez singled in Clark Elliott. After a Danny Bautista, Jr. walk ended Geerdes’ night, Susac brought in Pérez with a single and Brennan Milone plated both Bautista and Susac with a single. Thomas then wrapped up the whole thing with a booming triple to center to bring Milone home. The five-hit, two-walk, seven-run frame tied for Lansing’s largest single-inning rally of the year.

Pedro Santos then relieved Stevie Emanuels, who had worked the seventh and eighth innings, and fired a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to wrap up the win.

Pérez, Susac and Thomas each finished with two of Lansing’s 11 hits, while Bautista, Jr., Susac and Thomas each scored two runs. The Locos additionally swiped six bases, two by Bautista, Jr.

Lansing goes for the series victory in the Sunday finale on a Capital City Market Kids Day, with gates opening at 12 noon for a 1:05 p.m. start. Right-hander Jake Garland (7.08 ERA) starts for the Locos against TinCaps right-hander Tyler Morgan (4.91) in a second consecutive Copa game featuring a Sugar Skull Locos bobblehead giveaway.
