VANCOUVER, BC – Minor League Baseball has named Canadians starting pitcher Devereaux Harrison as the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for June 5-11. It’s his second time earning the league’s weekly award and the fifth by a C’s pitcher this season after Chad Dallas, Trenton Wallace, and Dahian Santos took home the honor last month.

Harrison, 22, got the ball in game two of Vancouver’s doubleheader in Everett on Saturday night for the fourth start of his career. He faced the minimum over his first three innings then walked the first batter of the fourth but proceeded to strike out the next five consecutive hitters before a two-out free pass in the fifth. The right-hander stranded that runner with an inning-ending punchout for a career-high eight Ks then retired the side in order in the sixth to complete his night.

The Vacaville, CA native has been a revelation in the rotation after starting the season in the bullpen. Harrison is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 20.0 innings in his four turns this year while limiting opponents to a .138 batting average and striking out 8.1 hitters per nine. He has not given up a run in four of the first five innings of games he has started; two runs in the third inning are all that he has allowed.

Drafted in the ninth round (278th overall) of the 2022 draft, Harrison is amid his second season with Vancouver after making his High-A debut with the C’s in August 2022.

Harrison and the Canadians return to Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium Tuesday through Sunday this week for a six-game series with the Hillsboro Hops [D-Backs]. Tickets and more information are available at CanadiansBaseball.com.
