Credit is due for the Greenville Drive who put an absolute buzzsaw on the mound in Wikelman Gonzalez. The Drive right-hander leads the league in strikeouts and he added ten more to his count in 5.2 innings. Asheville’s starting pitcher, Nolan DeVos, made his Tourists debut and allowed only two hits in 4.1 innings pitched. Devos surrendered a pair of runs but turned in a solid showing.
Greenville plated two more in the top of the fifth on one of the longest Home Runs by a Minor League player this season. Brainer Bonaci hit a 491-foot two-run shot over the scoreboard in right-centerfield.
The Drive added four more runs in the eighth off Valente Bellozo. Asheville was held to three hits in the game; doubles by Tommy Sacco Jr. and Ryan Clifford, and a single by Ryan Wrobleski. Collin Price walked twice and threw out three would be base-stealers from behind home plate.
Asheville will attempt to right the ship on Saturday night with Game Four of their current series scheduled for 6:05pm ET.
