Diaz went deep to lead off both the third and fifth, giving the Hooks three multi-homer performances in as many games. Wilyer Abreu hit two home runs Sunday in Amarillo and Justin Dirden clubbed his 19th and 20th Tuesday night.
Cesar Salazar went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs scored. Salazar came home in the third on a single by Dirden, who has collected 11 hits in his 15 at-bats.
Fueled by Diaz’s second homer of the night, his eighth in 36 games as a Hook, Corpus Christi sent eight men to bat in the fifth. Will Wagner’s bases-loaded single plated a pair.
Cody Deason was charged with one unearned run thru three innings. He left the game as a precautionary measure after being struck by a line drive.
