One has to wonder if Hillsboro Hops outfielder Dan Swain is a fan of Rob Base and D.J. EZ-Rock. He has taken their "It takes two to make a thing go right" mantra to heart.
Swain hit his seventh double of the season to tie the game and Camden Duzenack provided the go-ahead RBI single in a five-run eighth inning as the Hillsboro Hops came back to defeat the Boise Hawks 8-6 at Memorial Stadium Tuesday night.

The Hops evened their second-half Northwest League record at 1-1 and sent Boise to its seventh consecutive defeat.
Swain has played in a dozen NWL games for the Hops and more than half of his dozen hits have gone for two bases.
The Hops trailed 3-1 and 5-3 before mounting their comeback in the eighth inning. Daulton Varsho was hit by a pitch to lead off, followed by a Tra Holmes base hit off reliever Kyle Cedotal. The Hawks brought in Mike Bunal from the bullpen and Swain drove a 1-2 pitch to the wall in left center field to score both runners, the speedy Holmes hot on Varsho's heels as both raced down the third base line to tie the game 5-5. Jorge Perez followed with a sacrifice bunt back to the mound, reaching base when Bunal's low throw pulled the first baseman off the bag. With runners at the corners, Duzenack jumped on the first pitch he saw and raked a single to left to score Swain.
The Hops added two more runs later in the inning on another errant Bunal throw and a wild pitch, taking an 8-5 lead into the ninth. Closer Erbert Gonzalez surrendered a leadoff homer to J.B. Moss and the Hawks brought the winning run to the plate after a hit and a walk. But Gonzalez whiffed NWL home run leader Daniel Jipping, then fanned Bernard to notch his league-leading seventh save of the season.
Breckin Williams--a member of the Hops' 2015 championship team who missed all last season following Tommy John surgery--earned his first win of the year in his second game back with the Hops, pitching a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout and a walk.

Ryan Grotjohn went 3-5 with a triple and a run scored. Swain and Duzenack each had two hits with Duzenack scoring twice.
The Hops scored the first run of the game after Duzenack led off with a double and Pavin Smith stroke a two-out single to center. Spokane answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, collecting six hits off Hops' starter Luis Madero before he recorded his fourth out.
The Hops got a two-out bunt RBI single from Jorge Perez in the second inning and tied the game in the third after Ryan Grotjohn hit a leadoff triple and scored on Eudy Ramos' grounder to short.
Madero recovered from his rocky start to retire nine of the next ten batters before hitting Cole Anderson with a pitch with two outs in the fourth inning. J.B. Moss followed with a base hit and Bret Boswell hit a grounder off of first. Pavin Smith came well off the bag to field the ball but threw high over Madero, as Anderson scored on the error to put Spokane back in front.
Bernard homered off Madero with two outs in the fifth, his first as a pro, but could not repeat the act against Gonzalez in the ninth inning as the Hops ended their two-game losing streak.
The Hops and Hawks play the middle game of the three-game series Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m. Pacific time (7:15 Mountain time) with the pregame show starting at 6 p.m. following Rip City Drive with Travis and Chad on Rip City Radio 620 AM.
